Around the world + Variations (video
help)
Around the World moves are visually impressive because they show
the diabolo moving outside of your body like a Da Vinci sketch,
and you determine the speed. You begin by pushing the diabolo along
the string to your left side, just like a string whip except that
you now point both sticks skyward
and allow the perpetual motion carry the diabolo in a full circle
(like you have a bucket of water).
1) Around the World and Back
For this trick, you swing the diabolo to one side, up and around
to the other side of the sticks, and then you go back around the
opposite way to untangle the string (see
video 1). It helps to keep the
two stickpoints together.
2) Around the World Windmill
Same idea of swing the diabolo up to one side, but this time when
the diabolo reaches twelve o’clock, with a little practice
you can smoothly switch the sticks in your hands (while continuing
the circle with the sticks) so that the diabolo comes down on the
other side untangled and ready to continue (see
video 2). See how many revolutions you can do without stopping
the diabolo. This, of course, can be done in both directions.
3) Around
the World Start
This is a fun way to start the diabolo. All you do is twist
the diabolo 360 degrees horizontally while it is on the string.
The string is twisted (as seen in Figure 1) but you can still
start the diabolo normally by rolling it on the ground. When
it gets spinning, all you have to do is the second part of Around
the World and Back...so long as you know which way you need
to swing it (see
video 3). |
