    Flying Trapeze (video help)

The flying trapeze(or however you want to call it) is a great move to because it is impressive, really easy once you figure it out, you can add it in to many tricks, and it has an element of magic with it. Note: Try it first with a friend holding and moving the diabolo so that you can learn the motions.

Step 1: Cross your sticks and hook

Learn it both ways, but let's start with right stick over left. You go in front of the left stick's tip (Fig 1) and hook the string onto the middle of the left stick. Then, uncross your sticks, but don't uncross too much (Fig 2). This should make the diabolo rise directly under the left stick.

    Step 2: Hook the axle

First, the easy way. With a foot or two (50cm) of string between the middle of the left stick and the tip of the right stick, you want to lower the right stick. It will naturally swing down towards your left. Position your right stick just below the diabolo so that the string lines up with the middle of the axle (Fig 3).

    Step 3: Flip it over
Now, your right hand should be directly under your left. The next step is to switch their positions by rotating your arms counter-clockwise 180 degrees (see Video 1). So, imagine you're holding onto a steering wheel and you make a quick left turn. The diabolo follows and goes between the sticks to the left, and ends up below both sticks. Remember that you will quickly learn this in one motion, so don't get impatient if it twists up while you're learning it.

    Step 4: Windshield wiper

At this point, you want your sticks to be pointing directly to your left. Bring your hands together (Video 1). Now rotate both sticks like a windshield wiper. In other words, quickly twist (or snap) your wrists (no arm movement necessary) and stop when the sticks are pointing straight up (Video 2). The diabolo should fly free and straight up into the air. Now catch it. Don't separate the sticks until the diabolo is free! Separating the sticks is the most common mistake with this trick. You want the string to come off the end of the tips of the sticks so it's very important that the sticks are close together and remain in line with the axle. That's it!

    Next Step: Swing time

Instead of lowering your right stick in Step 2, try swinging the diabolo around the left stick (see Swingtime video). This video also shows another cool way of exiting out the back. This is one of my favorite moves to add to many tricks, as seen in the promo video. After you master that, try and figure out Superfly. Or, invent your own. Enjoy!
