Let’s review. You
use your arms to make it spin. You have the
diabolo spinning steadily and it’s not tilting forward
or backward, and you’re standing right in front of it.
Before throwing, you have to change your hand position by
rotating your hands to the position seen in Figure 1. By
pointing the sticks at each other, the diabolo
and the sticks have created a plane which causes the diabolo
to travel straight into the air.
To throw, you primarily use
your wrists. To learn properly, you should
practice by not moving your arms at all. So what you do is
change from your spin position to throw position. I sometimes
call throw position “Superman Position” because
you have your arms in front, hands like fists, just like Superman
when he flies. Now to throw, all you have to do is bring the
